Special Interest Groups
Have you ever wondered if there is anyone else around the country (or the world!!!) who shares your excitement and enthusiasm for using type in a specific profession or interest area?
Well there probably is…but you may not know who and where they are!
NZAPT would like to offer all it’s members the opportunity to connect with those who are of a ‘like mind’ – as if there is such a thing – but you know what we mean!
The Special Interest Areas are:
- Careers and Occupations
- Counselling and Pyschotherapy
- Education
- Health Care
- Management and Organization Development
- Religion and Spirituality
- Theory and Research
- Family
The US have consultants in each of these areas who we can also be in touch with to enhance our learning.
The reason we would like to do this is very simple. We would be happy to place a bet that all of us who are working with type have at some point become convinced of it’s universal truth and have had our own ‘aha’ moment, the penny has dropped, the light has come on, or any one of these times where we are so convinced that the theory of type is relevant that we are compelled to pass this information on to others, wherever we may be.
Here is an opportunity to learn from each other in a unique way. Whether you are teaching, preaching, counselling, consulting, mediating, mentoring, nursing, negotiating, leading, life coaching, parenting, studying or training, we can all benefit from networking and sharing ideas.
How are you using type in your world? What has worked well? What hasn’t? Is there any training that can be organised for your Special Interest Group. Do you have some expertise you would like to share?
There is already a small group of us who would like to look into ways we can introduce type into our education system. Are you interested? Perhaps you are doing that already. If so, we would love to hear from you!
We will still keep our regional Interest Groups which are growing and developing well around the country. In addition to these we would love to have some magnets of inspiration that can draw together the type wisdom of the nation. They can be based in any part of the country and serve the needs of each interest area, whatever they decide that to be. We assume most communication will take advantage of the efficiency and convenience of e-mail but any other forum can develop – an opportunity to try out a few cafés maybe?!

The most surprising things happen when you just make a contact that can open a door which leads somewhere you’d never thought of going. Please…give it a go. You have nothing to lose!!!
PS Did you know there is a Type Coaching SIG (Special Interest Group) in the US that has an e-conference call on the second Tuesday of most months? The calls suit our time zone (8.00 or 9.00 am local NZ time) and international phone calls are no longer the exorbitant rates they used to be.
